Travel in general, and China in particular, is all about surprises. And surprise was the common thread between witnessing hundreds of brides being photographed on a single beach one day here in Qingdao and finding ourselves eating bugs for dinner in a tiny Shandong town. Pretty suibian, but why not?
First, the brides:
The four or five chilly brides visible in this shot represent just a tiny fraction of all the brides on the beach.
The photography was clearly a labor-intensive process for all involved.
But there were still touching moments.
And now, the bugs:
This was our plate of bugs, before we dug in. Take a good look. This really happened.
Thinking about it.
Taking the plunge!
Our taste for bugs developed almost instantly.
This is what a plate of bugs looks like when you’re done eating it.

ive got to say, the photos of the bugs, even the concept of the eating the bugs, was far more appealing then close up shots of you two eating bugs. you could have been eating cereal for crying out loud, and still, close up shots would have made me somewhat grossed out. nice job.
Looks tasty to me. Next up: scorpions. 🙂
